In 2024, member of Christ Memorial voted overwhelmingly to affirm their desire to become a Reconciling In Christ congregation. This affirmation of our desire to be a safe and inclusive community for LGBTQIA+ siblings, friends, and neighbors and to be an actively anti-racist church is an important step in together becoming the beloved and justice-seeking body that God desires. The Welcome Statement below guides our ongoing work:

As a Reconciling in Christ faith community, Christ Memorial Lutheran Church strives to embrace fully the gospel of Christ our Savior - to live as a community that welcomes and advocates for all of God’s beloved children. 

• We affirm the sacredness of people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions. 
• We affirm the sacredness of all those who have endured discrimination and exclusion based on the color of their skin, ability levels, age, culture, or citizenship status. 
• We affirm the sacredness of all those who struggle with addictions, mental or physical health concerns, imprisonment, socio-economic circumstances, or any other barrier that divides us from one another.

From this stance of affirmation, celebration, and advocacy, we embrace with open arms and open hearts all who are seeking God’s love and grace, wherever they may be on their faith journey. We commit as a faith community to the ongoing practice of inclusiveness, recognizing the ways in which marginalized status based on any of the factors listed above can intersect and overlap, compounding the harm done.  Therefore, in addition to our welcome of LGBTQIA+ children, youth and adults, we commit to the study, understanding, and implementation of anti-racism practices.
